Foggy Pk Trip
Just after 8h00am we set off from the parking lot. The air was crisp but not cold, there were only a few low clouds hanging around and barely a breath of wind. Natalie and Gian-luca set a brisk pace from the start which got us all nice and warm and stripping the last few layers off.
Soon we settled into a gentle rhythm while we trudged up the slopes towards the many false summits.
After just less than 2 hours, and many rest stops to admire the stunning clear morning view, we reached our objective for the day, the summit of Foggy peak.
While chilling on top and comparing trail snacks we decided it was too beautiful a day to go back to civilization just yet.
We decided to walk a little along the ridge towards Castle hill peak and try to find some snow to touch.
After half an hour we found a patch of old snow and looked and different ways of kicking and cutting steps. Mountaineering boots definitely work better than trail running shoes. We carried on along the ridge some more, enjoying the day until we were at the point where it seemed rude not to go all the way.
After a short group discussion and a calculation of time required to get to sheffield before the pie shop closed, we decided to press on and aim for Castle hill peak.
Overall it was a gorgeous day out enjoying the hills and making new friends. And we even got to savior Sheffields finest cuisine.
Thanks Natalie, Ruby, Rob, Gian-luca and Zack.
