Club working bee to Lyell Hut, Rakaia River, October 23rd-25th
Any plans for Labour Weekend? We are looking for club members to help finish the Lyell Hut rebuild project that is on the cusp of completion! Doesn’t matter what skills you have – we have a job for everyone (although if you do have any hut building specific skills please let me know!)
The plan would be to head up the Rakia River, leaving very early on Saturday morning. I’m trying to organise some 4x4s to carry equipment and or people as far up the river as possible. Sunday would be a full day of working on the hut before we head back out on Monday afternoon. The exact details will be confirmed the week before the trip.
Some of the jobs are: Build timber seats and table/bench, build bunks, dig long drop hole, clear and remark track along the stream, make wood store, build porch and deck, install the hut fees box and signage, clean up building materials, clean up inside hut.
Fill out the Google Form below if you can come.
