The CMC relies on a combination of membership fees and donations in order to function effectively. Costs include the maintenance and rebuilding of huts and the subsidising of instruction courses for members.

The maintenance of huts is costly, with the backcountry huts constantly subject to trying conditions with harsh weather all year round. The CMC lodges also require regular maintenance in order to keep them in good working order. The CMC has a board of trustees and a committee who ensure that the CMC funds are managed appropriately and put to good use for the benefit of our climbing community.
