South West Face
Grade 2
5 days + 1 day if bad weather
Required experience: You must have completed a mountaineering course and be fit enough to walk 15hrs with a heavy backpack in mountainous terrain at a brisk pace.
We will leave Christchurch about 7am on the 26th and camp at Milford Sound.
Next day, park near suspension bridge and walk up the Tutoko river to Leader Falls and camp near Turners Biv. This will be a long day.
Next we get up early and summit via the South West Face unless snow conditions are bad in which case we might consider the South Ridge.
Return same direction.
Equipment required: Helmet, 2 axes, rigid or 3/4 boots, harness, crampons, food for 6 days, tents, stoves, transceiver and avo gear.
