Intro: This is a grade 1 trip suitable for beginners on a dramatic looking mountain at the head of Waimakariri Valley in Arthurs Pass.

Itinerary: You need helmet, crampons, one axe, headlamp, harness. We leave Christchurch 6am Saturday then drive to Klondyke Corner. We then trek up to CMC Waimak Falls Hut and sleep there. There will be several river crossings. Early Sun morning we go via Main Divide Route to Carrington Peak. If everyone is feeling good we will do a traverse to Mt Armstrong and return via same path.
Previous experience required: Intro to Mountaineering course or similar.
Plan B: If conditions bad we will do it on a following weekend.
