Amongst the mixed weather on offer this weekend there might be a chance for an invigorating bluebird stroll up Castle Hill Peak.
Leader: Adam Campbell ([email protected]) or find me on social media for questions
Date: Saturday 14th Sept
Itinerary/Plan: At the moment the idea would be to leave chch early on Saturday for a day trip up Castle Hill Peak from Porters Pass, followed by hot chips at a pub on the way home.
If the weather changes such that Arthur’s Pass looks like it will be on, we could consider changing to another grade 1 objective up there, in which case staying at Kennedy on Friday night would be best. Currently this looks less likely.
Previous experience required: If only doing Castle Hill Peak – winter tramping experience would be sufficient. Not all party members have to go up the steeper part of the hill to attain the summit.
Gear Required:
Proper winter clothing sufficient to withstand very cold winds.
Crampons and compatible boots, an ice axe.
Plan B: Going on Sunday if forecast changes or looking at Trig M or Mt Richardson
