Mt Franklin via South Ridge. 1st – 2nd June

Itinerary
Day 1: Carpool from Christchurch to Arthurs Pass Approx. 6am. Set off from Greyneys Shelter to approach up the Mingha passing goat pass and down the deception to the scree slope before Deception hut. Make our way up the scree slope and sidle to good luck stream. Camp next to Lake Anna.
Day 2: Early start up the South Ridge route to the summit. Return same way and out to the road end.
Option to add a third day staying a goat pass hut or staying at Kennedy lodge if too tired to drive.

Experience required: This is a grade 2 peak with a long hard approach day that will require a good level of fitness. Participants should have completed a minimum of an intro to mountaineering course or equivalent with a few grade 2 peaks for experience.

Gear required: Ice Axe, mountaineering boots with compatible crampons, Helmet, Avalanche Gear, overnight shelter (Tent or bivvy), sleeping mat, warm sleeping bag, layers, food and drink for 3 days plus a stove and gas. Group gear: PLB or in reach, first aid kit

Plan B: Can move the dates by a day if needed or something in the Nelson lakes area.
