Intro: We are going up Mt Harper SW ridge via White Col then continuing down the Camp Spur route to Carrington hut and out. This is a grade 1 route. Involves staying at the CMC Hut – Barker Hut – in Arthur’s Pass. Excellent early winter mountaineering trip.

Date: July 1-2nd 2023
Itinerary: We meet Russley Z petrol station 7am Saturday morning. We drive to Klondyke corner and hike 8-10 hours up the Waimak to Barker Hut and sleep there. We get up very early Sunday, summit and walk out.
Previous experience required: Intro to Mountaineering course or similar. Must have avalanche awareness and response training or experience as well as basic rope skills and self arrest skills.
Plan B: Snow conditions are everything, if not right then we postpone to a following weekend.
Equipment: You will need avo gear, helmet, harness, crampons, 1 axe, lamp.
