Itinerary:
Last minute trip up guideless buttress (grade 3) this weekend! The plan is to leave chch Friday night, climb Saturday. I will be coming back to chch Saturday most likely.
Staying at Wyn Irwin on Friday night. Climb Saturday morning. We can look at conditions to see if heading to the top of Wakefield is possible. Bring a light axe and crampons to Wyn Irwin. Descend down the scree slope back to the hooker track.
Previous experience required: A good level fitness required a long day in the mountains. Previous rock and trad climbing experience / or alpine rock. I expect we would be soloing the route, but will bring a rope and gear.
Gear required: warm / waterproof clothes, helmet, approach shoes, light weight crampons and ice axe. Personal rock climbing gear.
Plan B: Most likely Sebastapol Ridge, and backdown via Mueller.
Questions: If you have any questions about the trip, feel free to contact Simon Binney.
