Description: This 3 day course will teach techniques when travelling on steeper terrain using 2 tools, assessing route selection and travelling through grade 2/3 mountainous terrain. Rope work will also be taught on this course including multi-pitching on a mix of rock, snow and ice. There will be an introductory lesson on travelling through glaciated terrain and crevasse rescue but no glaciers will be crossed on this course.

Pre-requisites: A solid base of a minimum of 5 grade 1 peaks and trips. Participants should be comfortable with crampons and ice axe on grade 1/2 terrain. A background of multi pitch trad climbing is helpful, but not imperative. Participants should be confident in tying a figure of eight, prussick, clove hitch and alpine butterfly.
