CMC Cameron Hut Meet (Arrowsmiths) November 1-3
Intro: Join us for a social meet at Cameron Hut in the beautiful Arrowsmith Range, welcoming climbers of all skill levels! This is a collaborative gathering, so we’ll share the approach to the hut, exchange tips, and discuss weather and conditions. Note, spring conditions are highly variable so it’s unclear what routes will be “in”, but there are loads of options so there should be something for everyone. Whether you’re a beginner or an expert, you can choose your own routes and climb independently. Bring a partner or two, pick your objective, and enjoy a fantastic weekend in great company amidst the stunning scenery!
If there’s enough interest, we might take this opportunity to carry up a bit of gear for hut maintenance and do a general spring cleaning…

Date: November 1-3
Itinerary: The general idea will be to spend the weekend at cameron hut and climb something in the area. I will be heading there Friday evening and doing the walk into Cameron hut partially in the dark. The walk in is about 5 hours. If that doesn’t work for you, feel free to come up Saturday. Climb Saturday (many options available of all skill levels, weather dependent!). Some might decide to do another objective (or their main objective) on Sunday, and then return to Christchurch Sunday afternoon or evening. There is no specific climbing objective for this trip – that can be up for you and your partner(s) to discuss! Getting to Cameron hut is relatively straight forward, and there are lots of options to choose from of all skill levels once you’re up there. If you’re new, or just want to come hang, you can even just camp out by the hut and take in the beautiful view!
Previous experience required: Route dependent. To get to the hut, experience with navigation and general backcountry tramping.
Gear required: Route dependent. Generally though, snow gear and overnight gear.
