Wyn Irwin is the CMC’s base at Aoraki/Mt Cook. It was extensively refurbished in 1991.

Wyn Irwin Lodge

Use this portal to make your hut fee payments. Please make payment for one person at a time.  The quantity field is for the number of nights stayed.Once your payment has gone through you will receive a conformation email which you can show Hut Wardens that you have made your payment

The lodge has 16 bunks and a warden’s room. This lodge has solar powered lighting, gas cooking, diesel heater, internal hot shower, flush toilet, power sockets for charging, fridge, lounge dining tables, stainless steel sink and benches, pots and pans, plates and cutlery.

Wyn Irwin hut is located in the White Horse car-park in the Hooker valley, near the trail head to the Mueller hut track. At the end of the Hooker Valley road, keep turning left as you enter the White Horse Hill car park.

The hut combination code is changed weekly. To get a hold of the current code, please pay online and the hut code will be emailed to you (please refer to the instructions on the main webpage). Our friendly resident hut warden, Cam Mulvey, may request to check your email with the payment confirmation.

LODGE FEE

  • Members – $20
  • Non-Members – $40
  • Under 18s – $10 per night.
  • Under 12s – Free

Wyn Irwin is a fantastic place to base yourself for mountaineering in the Aoraki/Mount Cook region. Resident hut warden Cam Mulvey will welcome you upon arrival and will be happy to provide you with helpful local knowledge of access routes, mountain conditions and route beta. Cam is a keen ski-mountaineer with an extensive knowledge of the area. The hut library is replete with quality NZ mountain literature to entertain you on bad weather days.
